The World Series matchup is set. Dodgers versus Yankees. West coast versus East coast. Plus, some of the biggest names in the game! Ohtani, Judge, Betts and Stanton. It’s a dream Fall Classic for fans of both teams and baseball fans in general. I myself, religiously cheer for the Dodgers, have for as long as I can remember. I even have the team logo tattooed on my calf, so I’m stoked for this World Series, obviously.

As big a fan as I am, I’ll have to settle for watching the World Series on the couch, why? Because I simply can’t afford to go to a game and the same goes for anyone who doesn’t want to not eat ichiban noodles for the next couple months. Its not that I wouldn’t put down money to attend a World Series game in person, it’s the fact that the CHEAPEST tickets, we’re talking nosebleeds are currently going for NO LESS than $1000 USD. Some sites have seats a few rows up behind home plate for the low low price of $30,000… a few hours of fun or a down payment on a house? I’ll take the latter.

It’s not just the World Series where tickets are stupid expensive, its basically any premiere sporting event. The Super Bowl, NBA finals, Stanley Cup finals. Hell, even a ticket to a major golfing event can run you a few hundred dollars. The ironic thing is, the ones who can attend these games aren’t necessarily true fans, they just have deep pockets. The real true fans who show passion are left to watch from their homes or local watering hole because they need to pay the bills and be able to afford to eat.

If even the nosebleed tickets were a couple hundred dollars, I’m packing my bags and heading down to sunny California to catch a game, but not for $1000 to sit and watch with binoculars. On a side note, Go Dodgers!
